Preston Alixander is 8 months old!!!

It's amazing how time flies by. 8 months ago our lives were so different with a brand new little baby who just was so content being in one place. Preston is now 8 months old and he is very active. He loves to crawl around and play with anything and everything. He also loves to pull himself to standing, then sit down and do that again and again. He is getting better at falling (thank goodness) so when he does let go he knows he need to lean forward to fall on his bottom so he doesn't hit his head. Since last month, Preston has gained so much speed. He still prefers to crawl on his hands and his feet, unless he is pushing a toy along. My grandparents came to visit last Sunday and brought him a truck and he loves to push the truck around as he crawls. Actually, he crawls with whatever he can hold on to. Carl gave him a golf club to play with the other day and he sat there for a while and he lifted it over his head and moved it around (and yes, his dad loves that he practices his "swing"), and the next time I looked over, there he was crawling with this huge golf club! Preston notices everything now and wants to explore and eat everything. We have pulled many things out of his mouth including a leaf and a small chunk of tile. He has started to babble now and he constantly says mama mama... It's fun to hear him starting to put syllables together! Preston has also been growing hair and although he doesn't have much, he does have some!!! As he gets tired he gets more and more active and squirmy. He is actually starting to eat more foods. At first he had no interest (he would grab at food but didn't like it once they were in his mouth). He weighed 20lbs 4 oz and is about 27.5 or 28 inches long (measuring is always so hard to tell, especially now that he moves so quickly). I still need to post our videos of him crawling. I will get these up soon!!! On his 8 month birthday, we also were able to go and watch my cousin David play football. Preston enjoyed his first football game! Okay, that is everything I can think of right now... enjoy the pictures. Reading his 8 month old sign!

He would only sit if we gave him his monster to chew on....

August fun.....Brenna and Judd's wedding

Brenna and Judd were married on August 22 and it was a nice wedding. We were in Milton-Freewater for the whole week before her wedding since we had went to Matt and Lora's wedding the week before. Brenna and Judd kept us busy with wedding tasks for the week. Here are some pictures of the day. We dressed Preston in his little tux for the second time (the first was at my brother's wedding in July). Brenna and Judd's ceremony

Preston turns 7 months old!!!...

In the mist of our busy August, Preston turned 7 months old. I do not have my traditional picture with the sign but here are some pictures from his 7 month birthday (and a few before that were so cute that I wanted to share them with you). Six to seven months has been a big change since Preston is now fully crawling and on his 7 month birthday, he crawled over to the couch at Carl's grandparents house and pulled himself right up! He started crawling a little before 6 months and his crawl looked like a butterfly stroke as he would pull himself along the ground. He could move his legs too, but wasn't quite sure how to coordinate them. Even at the beginning of August, he was just started to transition into a more traditional crawl. And a week before he turned 7 months, he was crawling on his hands and knees (or feet, which he usually prefers and many people refer to it looking like a crab, spider, bear or other types of animals). He is gaining speed everyday, which is making my life more interesting and our house seem a little more unsafe each day as I find something new that he is interested in. Our house is far from baby proofed since we are still in the middle of construction on our bedroom, thus our things are spread throughout the house. We have our rooms that are safe and I am hoping that we will be finished and can get out house as safe as possible before he starts walking around! Now days, his favorite thing is to crawl over to anything that he can pull himself up on and he has been trying to pull up with toys in his hands, which he is accomplishing with small toys. He loves to stand and yell...yes, yell with his eyes squinted shut and his mouth open as wide as humanly possible for a 7 month old baby. He also does this funny coughing laugh when he is proud of himself. I need to get a video of it to share. I get a kick out of this. Dallas, our dog, is also one of his favorites. He will chase him around and if Dallas goes out the dog door, Preston will crawl after him as fast as his can and then hang his head and cry. He has been attempting to put his hands through the dog door as well. He has been happier lately that he can pull himself up on our glass door and watch Dallas on the deck. Preston has also been eating some food since he was 6 months. He does not particularly like food (just breast milk) but he seems to like the act of eating. He does not want to be spoon fed things, but if he can pick it up, he is happy and he is always willing to try it if we are eating it off plates. He also loves to stick out his tongue, which he will do when he is excited or he sees a dog. He is still a fabulous sleeper and the easiest baby. He is so happy and laughs all the time. We are so blessed! I was not able to weigh him on this birthday on a baby scale but on the adult scale he was about 19.5 pounds and he as of yesterday he was 20lbs 2 oz. and 28 1/2 inches long. 6 months old ... I thought this was super cute and wanted to share it (they are in our kiddy pool)

August fun.... Matt and Lora's wedding...

Well I have not posted for a while, but finally I am adding to tell you about our month of August. As soon as it started, we have been more than busy. First, we traveled to Milton-Freewater to attend Carl's 10 year class reunion. To make it easier on Preston (since he would be sleeping) we left Friday night after Carl's 10 hour day at work and arrived at 2:30a.m. on Saturday, August 1. We had a great time at his class reunion lunch and as I said in my last post, we also played in a golf tournament with our friends Matt and Lora that night. It was also so wonderful to see Carl's grandparents, Dad and siblings that we had not seen in months. On Sunday, August 2, we traveled to Boise... (actually Meridian, Idaho) to see my brother Lucas and his wife Leslie. My mom had also flown out to visit with everyone. We stayed in Meridian until Wednesday and then we traveled back to Medford. The second weekend in August, we stayed home and Carl worked on our master bedroom, trimming the new windows and putting backerboard up in our new bathroom. This summer we tore apart our master suite and rearranged the bathroom and closet to be a much better layout. The following Thursday, August 13, we left at night after Carl had went to work all day and made our 8 + hour drive to Milton-Freewater. There we attended Matt and Lora's wedding, which was beautiful and so much fun! We stayed in Milton the whole week following week and helped Carl's sister Brenna prepare for her wedding on August 22. It was a busy week! Brenna and Judd were married on Saturday August 22 out at the Walla Walla Yacht Club, which was lovely. After more than a week, Carl, Preston and I traveled back to Medford. We were happy to be home with no travel plans, but as soon as we arrived, we got to work here tiling our bathroom (since we had our duct system finished while we were away). Carl and I tiled night after night, staying up until 2am-3am. It has been a busy week!! We have both been exhausted since Carl has to still work everyday and Preston still has plenty of energy in the morning! Anyway, here is our first post from our very busy August. These pictures are from Matt and Lora's wedding! It was the most beautiful ceremony at Milton Golf Course up on one of the holes that overlooks everything. We sat on the grass for the ceremony, which was so nice and Preston especially enjoyed it! Here are the pictures that I took.
